Question

What are the widths and densities, given one shell and two registers?

--wg-page-width is a single 1420px rail shared by topbar, footer, and content, and the 4pt spacing scale governs surface-level spacing. A game-site register usually wants a wider band for showcase surfaces and a narrower column for reading — one rail cannot do both.

Resolve:

  • How many rails exist: full-bleed band, showcase width, app width, reading measure. Fewer is better; each one is a thing that can be used wrongly.
  • The reading measure for wiki articles and blog posts, in characters, and how it relates to the rail.
  • Whether full-bleed bands exist at all, given there is no art to fill them — they may be an ornament device rather than an image device.
  • What "two densities" means numerically: the spacing multipliers, padding steps, and ornament weight for showcase versus app surfaces.
  • What the gutter becomes, since it is explicitly available to change.
  • How the rails behave at the existing responsive breakpoints, and whether the two densities converge on mobile — they probably should, since mobile has one density.

Resolution is the rail and density table that layout tickets build against.
